Final Fantasy 16 could potentially host a new expansion pack
Naoki Yoshida, the producer of Final Fantasy 16, does not completely rule out the possibility of more expansion packs for the game.
In his recent interview, Final Fantasy 16 producer Naoki Yoshida hinted at the possibility of more expansion packs for the game, but players should not expect such content anytime soon. Current Final Fantasy 16 users are preparing to experience the second expansion pack of the game, titled "The Rising Tide," and they want to know from Square Enix about the possibility of releasing more downloadable content (DLC).
Yoshida responded to this question by saying that while the possibility cannot be completely ruled out, expanding the expansion pack is unlikely: "This is a difficult question to answer. My honest answer is that I don't know anything at the moment. At the same time, the possibility of providing more additional packages will not be absent. I don't want to rule out possibilities that may become real because we have put a lot of effort and time into making this game and many advanced techniques have been used in it."
Yoshida also pointed out that Square Enix's experiences during the development of Final Fantasy 16 were invaluable because it allowed the development team to learn a lot about making a large single-player game and supporting it until moving on to the new project. However, Square Enix may be ready to start working on a new project in the future instead of developing expansion packs for Final Fantasy 16.
Yoshida explained: "For this reason, we have gained a lot of experience and acquired a lot of learning that we can likely use in producing an expansion pack or future project." My sincere feeling is that the team wants to experience a new challenge and move on to a different project. Perhaps this project will be a completely new game or even offer a completely new form of entertainment. I feel that this decision ultimately will be the best possible path for players and our studio. However, I reiterate once again that the possibility of creating more downloadable content for Final Fantasy 16 will not be absent.
Final Fantasy 16 was developed by Square Enix's Creative Business Unit 3 and was released on PlayStation 5 last year. At the same time, this studio supports the famous MMORPG Final Fantasy 14 game and is currently developing the new additional job called Dawntrail.
