The date for the Summer Game Fest 2024 has been announced
Geoff Keighley, the producer of Summer Game Fest, announced the personal event for 2024. Scheduled for June 18 (June 7), Summer Game Fest 2024 will welcome "thousands of fans in person" at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles. The event will provide "a sneak peek at upcoming games."
Fans can stay updated on the latest news and how to participate by registering at Summergamefest.com. Concurrently, the SGF Edition of Day of the Devs program will be showcased immediately following the Summer Game Fest, along with SGF Play Days, a special media event in Los Angeles from June 19 to 21, produced by iam8bit.
Summer Game Fest 2023 featured games such as Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Sonic Superstars during its two-hour presentation. Trailers for Alan Wake 2, Mortal Kombat 1, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and the release date of Spider-Man 2 were also revealed. Day of the Devs presented 15 indie games after the event and concluded with a comedic showcase at Devolver Digital studio.
Furthermore, several major video game publishers such as Microsoft (with Xbox Game Showcase and Starfield Direct), Ubisoft (with Ubisoft Forward), and Capcom (with Capcom Showcase) coordinated their events with Summer Game Fest. Summer Game Fest attracts a lot of attention from fans in the summer season, especially since the Entertainment Software Association announced in December that the E3 event (which has been showcasing games since the '90s) will no longer be held.
During an interview with CBC, Jeff Keighley claimed, while confirming the absence of hosts at last year's event, that Melanie Liburd from Ellen Wake 2 was supposed to be at Summer Game Fest, but it didn't happen due to timing issues. He said, "I think the diversity in our presentations is good. We aim to unveil games and present their creators in the right way. So I am aware of these events."
