The developer of Dragon's Dogma 2 says that the game world is likely to be even larger than previously reported.
As seen in the previews and details of Dragon's Dogma 2 so far, players will encounter a vast world. Capcom has already confirmed that this game's world will be four times larger than the first installment and will contain a lot of side content to the extent that some players may surpass their experience. Now, in his latest interview, Hideyaki Itsuno claims that the game world may be much larger than initially announced.
Itsuno explained: "We've always said that the map in Dragon's Dogma 2 would be four times the size of the first game, but we haven't measured it yet, and the development team believes it's much larger than previously stated." The number of cities has also increased significantly. There are two large countries on the map, each with different residential areas. However, instead of expanding the map size, we focused more on its density. "We conducted intensive research on the map to ensure that the amount of time it takes to navigate through different areas is not significant."
For this reason, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, the producer of Dragon's Dogma 2, believes that this game should be described as a "play experience" rather than a "story game." Hirabayashi added: "The game map is not only vast and aimless, but it is designed in a way that provides enjoyable experiences every moment you traverse it. "We rely on the density of the map content rather than its size."
Dragon's Dogma 2 is set to release on March 22, 2024 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The main campaign of this game will be the same as the first version, and its world will feature over a thousand characters to interact with. Capcom has promised that in some situations, three bosses will engage with the player simultaneously, and it seems that escaping is not a good option at the moment.
