Ubisoft is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Far Cry series

Ubisoft has announced a date for the live event commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Far Cry series. The French publisher is celebrating this month with discounts of up to 85% on games in the open-world first-person shooter series across all major platforms, with plans for a live event on March 21, 2024.
While fans await news about the next installment, Ubisoft has confirmed that there are no plans to reveal future content or a new Far Cry game. Enthusiasts can tune in to Twitch drops to relive stories and events from previous games in the series, which will undoubtedly be of interest to dedicated fans.
Although Ubisoft has not yet released any official news about the series' future, reports suggest that two Far Cry games are in development. One of the projects appears to be set in a fictionalized version of Alaska called Alashnika. Players in this cold region must search for various resources and craft new tools to survive, with player death potentially resulting in lost progress.

Reports indicate that this survival game will be released before the seventh installment of the series. Far Cry 7, codenamed Project Blackbird, is being developed on the Snowdrop engine. The game is reportedly set to launch in fall 2025 and will be available on day one for the Nintendo Switch 2. According to reports, the story of this game is non-linear, with players tasked with rescuing their family members from the clutches of a dangerous group.
If these findings are accurate, Far Cry 7 will feature a new interrogation mechanic that allows players to gather diverse information by torturing enemies. Ubisoft has not released any information about upcoming games in the series yet, so we'll have to wait for official announcements.
